Dr Juliana Tay earned her MA and PhD degrees in gifted education from Purdue University in the US. Before starting her studies at Purdue, she worked as an educator in Singapore, teaching students with gifts and talents in visual arts and developing programs and curricula that met the needs of these students. At Purdue University, she was also a coordinator for enrichment programs and summer camps for young children with gifts and talents. Before joining XJTLU, she worked as a Research Fellow at the National University of Singapore, where she was part of a team studying the use of digital game-based learning approach on working adults.
