Dr. Weize Huang is the Founding Director of Social Entrepreneurship Research Centre (SERC) and Assistant Professor at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. He is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) in the UK. Dr. Huang received his Ph.D. degree from the School of Management (AACSB, EQUIS, AMBA, CEEMAN IQA and CAMEA accredited) at Zhejiang University. His research spans topics in Entrepreneurship and Organizational Behavior, with particular interests in the micro-foundation of entrepreneurship and the interpersonal side of individual workplace behaviors in the era of digitalization and artificial intelligence. In 2023, Dr. Huang received the Jiangsu Provincial High-level Talent Award for his research achievements in entrepreneurial team formation.
His work has been published and presented in journals and conferences such as Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal (FT 50, ABS4, SSCI Q1), The International Journal of Human Resource Management (ABDC-A, ABS3, SSCI Q1), Ethics & Behavior (SSCI Q2), Chinese Journal of Applied Psychology (CSSCI), Psychology in China Social Science Excellence (reprinted journal), AoM Annual Meeting, IACMR Biennial Conference, AIB Asia Pacific Regional Conference, EIASM, ESI, etc. His dissertation won the Award of National Excellent Doctoral Dissertation in Innovation and Entrepreneurship (10 winners per year with 5 in Entrepreneurship research). He has also hosted or participated in several research projects sponsored by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Zhejiang Provincial Philosophy and Social Science Foundation of China, the Science Technology Department and Education Department of Zhejiang Province, and McGill University.
Dr. Huang is the Liaison Officer in Zhejiang Province for IACMR. As for entrepreneurial practice, he co-founded two new ventures and currently also serves as a consultant for some domestic start-ups. He also takes the role of entrepreneurship mentor at government-backed incubators in Suzhou as well as Shanghai. Regarding human resource management practice, he has several consulting experiences in tourism, transportation, education training, and medical industries. Concerning education practice, he collaborated with Haier Group to develop an English-taught course on innovative management models for undergraduate programmes.

SERC is a social innovation ecosystem rooted in the XJTLU ecosystem, aiming to empower the center's ecosystem partners through Syntegrative research/consulting projects. The center focuses on Syntegrative consulting/research projects as its foundation, working alongside the government, think tank members, and student research assistants. By integrating the diverse resources of these various stakeholders, the center strives to generate sustainable and scalable ecological value for education, businesses, government, and society as a whole.
