Xiaoqing Bi is a graduate of Newcastle University, where she specialised in Applied Linguistics. She holds both CELTA and DELTA qualifications and is a member of the Higher Education Academy (HEA). Additionally, Xiaoqing has earned BALEAP TEAP individual accreditation and is actively involved in the BALEAP community. As a core team member of the official BALEAP Podcast, she contributes to discussions on various aspects of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) teaching and learning.

Research interests

Xiaoqing Bi's research interests centre on English for Academic Purposes (EAP) with a particular focus on the diverse pathways EAP practitioners take into the field. She is deeply engaged in exploring teachers' professional development, with an emphasis on training for both English for General Academic Purposes (EGAP) and English for Specific Academic Purposes (ESAP). Additionally, Xiaoqing is interested in the role of artificial intelligence in enhancing learners' EAP vocabulary acquisition.

Teaching

Xiaoqing Bi has extensive experience in teaching a range of English for Academic Purposes (EAP) courses. She has taught in-sessional EAP courses for first-year undergraduate students, as well as English for Specific Academic Purposes (ESAP) courses for second-year Business students. In addition, Xiaoqing has delivered Pre-sessional English courses for postgraduate students, covering both the Reading to Writing and Listening and Speaking strands.
