Honored as the Outstanding International Discipline Leader of Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), Dr. Rong Yan is currently the Deputy Director of MA Programme in Child Development and Family Education and a Senior Associate Professor of Psychology at the Academy of Future Education, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. Additionally, he is an Honorary Professor of Applied Linguistics at Beijing International Studies University. Prior to his appointment at XJTLU, he served as the Deputy Dean of the School of English Language, Literature, and Culture at Beijing Second Foreign Languages Institute. Dr. Yan obtained his Ph.D from the Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2007. In 2009, he made his way to the Patton College of Education, Ohio University, to pursue further studies in early childhood and bilingual education as a post-doctoral researcher. Dr. Yan has presented his work internationally and served on various committees in China, the US and Canada, such as the Chinese Psychological Association, the China National Society of Early Childhood Education, the Association of Childhood Education International, the Center for Language Acquisition and Precision Education, Canada, China Family Education Institute, and the Special Education Specialist Committee of SIP, etc. His primary research domains encompass language acquisition/education throughout the early and middle childhood and adolescence, social and educational psychology, special/inclusive education. As an active researcher, Dr. Yan has published 5 books (3 independently authored monographs) and more than 50 articles. As the PI and Co-PI, he has accomplished over 20 research projects, funded by the National Social Science Fund (NSSF), the Ministry of Education (MOE), the Beijing Municipal Government, Suzhou Education Bureau and the like. In 2003, Dr. Yan was awarded the Top Prize for Outstanding Education Research by Beijing Municipal Government.
闫嵘博士毕业于中国科学院心理研究所,后前往美国俄亥俄大学进行博士后研究,现为西交利物浦大学未来教育学院儿童发展与家庭教育学研究生项目副主任,心理学高级副教授,苏州工业园区杰出国际型学科领军人才,北京第二外国语学院应用语言学荣誉教授。重要学术兼职包括:中国家庭教育学会文化建设专业委员会副理事长,家校社共育专业委员会理事,加拿大语言习得与精确教育研究中心特聘研究员,中国学前教育学会和国际儿童教育联合会会员,苏州工业园区残疾人教育专家委员会委员、特聘专家,江苏省、苏州市义务教育课程与教学深化改革项目、内涵与前瞻项目以及中小学科学教育实验基地评审与视导专家,苏州市吴中区、相城区片区学校心理副校长。主要研究领域为儿童与青少年语言习得、融合教育环境下特殊儿童认知及语言发展、社会与教育心理学。目前已在国内外学术期刊发表论文50余篇、专著、教材5部,主持并参与国家社科基金、教育部人文社科基金以及北京市人文社科、北京市教委、苏州市教育局等20多项研究课题,曾获得北京市教育研究优秀成果奖(省部级)。
