Dr. Jun Xia is a Associate Professor in the Civil Engineering Department at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. He is interested in ultra-high performance fibre reinforced concrete material (UHPFRC) and its structural applications. More specifically, his work examines how the micro material properties, such as fibre percentage and distribution condition affect the mechanical properties of UHPFRC material. The design and optimization of structure component based on the material properties is also of interest.
Research interests
Interests lie in the following areas:
1. Development of sustainable ultra-high performance fibre reinforced concrete materials containing recycled and reused aggregates or cement replacement materials.
2. Ultra-high performance fibre reinforced concrete (UHPFRC) application in infrastructures, leading to quick construction and longer service life;
3. Numerical modeling of cement based fiber reinforced composites, micro-scale material mechanics. Anisotropic fiber orientation distribution;
4. Nonlinear finite element analysis of infrastructures under static, impact, wind, and seismic loading.
