Personal profile
Dr. Engui Liu is an Assistant Professor of Civil Engineering at Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, with a research portfolio at the intersection of materials science, environmental engineering, and sustainable infrastructure.
He received his PhD in Civil Engineering from New York University in 2014, following an MSc in Materials Engineering from Tongji University and a BSc in Materials Chemistry from Changzhou University. From 2013 to 2019, Dr. Liu served as a founding faculty member in the Civil and Environmental Engineering program at NYU Abu Dhabi, contributing to both program development and international research collaborations.
His research centers on the development of eco-efficient cementitious materials and the circular reuse of industrial by-products for sustainable construction. He is also actively developing chemical and optical sensor systems to monitor the performance of infrastructure materials and geo-environments under real-world conditions.
Dr. Liu’s work supports both fundamental understanding and applied innovation, aligned with global goals for low-carbon construction and resilient infrastructure.
