Personal profile

Yili has been an instructor of English language in the higher education sector for more than 15 years and he is currently delivering EAP modules at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, with teaching quality being constantly highly rated according to the results in the university-wide Module Questionnaires. Meanwhile, he has worked in a number of service roles including lead internal moderator, model lecturer observed by ALLs and MA TESOL students, new staff mentor and tutor for PG continuing support, to name a few.

Prior to joining the ELC at XJTLU in 2014, he was an MOE-accredited and award-winning lecturer in English Language and Literature, mainly convening and teaching on modules of English majors such as Integrated/Comprehensive Skills, Linguistics and Pronunciation. He also supervised undergraduate degree theses in English language literature/linguistics and delivered lectures and workshops on English language skills for students in a wide range of disciplines.

His research interests are at the interface of English as lingua franca, pedagogical grammar, language in English literature, syntax and phonetics, and applications of TBLT. In addition, he has hitherto published two scholarly books, a translation of an impactful English work into Chinese sponsored by Sichuan University and a co-edited English textbook funded by the Chengdu Municipal Government.
