Richard Hay is a associate professor in the Department of Architecture at XJTLU he graduated from the Royal College of Art London and completed his professional qualification at the AA. He is a member of the RIBA and has 30 years of experience practicing in multi-disciplinary design and research in architecture, interiors and products. His practice experience includes working with Sir Norman Foster and Partners in London, Europe and Hong Kong, Atkins Studio in Dubai and Bahrain, OMA Asia, Ronald Lu and Anthony Ng Architects in Asia.He worked on award winning airport, museum, gallery, hospitality, offices and mixed-use developments. He has also designed boutique residences. His high-rise design received an award of Excellence for Best Tall Building Middle East and Africa, CHBUH Awards. He is interested in culture, the arts, the quality of environments and all aspects of sustainable experiences in the public and private sectors. Previously co-founding and a collaborative office in the UAE and after several ongoing collaborations founded HAYARCHITECTURE.Richard has taught design and methodology at several Universities in the UAE. At XJTLU he teaches final year studio design, construction materials and structure and is active in internal and external curation exhibitions and researching urban and country side rejuvenation.
