Building Engineer and Computational Designer with an innate passion for computer graphics and a strong interest in manufacturing and production processes. Specialist in Digital Design and Digital Fabrication, Giancarlo has collaborated with several Architecture, Engineering and Design firms in Italy and abroad, as well as national organizations such as Confindustria (General Confederation of Italian Industry). He started his academic career in 2016 and, since then, Giancarlo has collaborated with universities in Italy (La Sapienza - Rome, UNICA - Cagliari), Mexico (Centro de Diseño, CEDIM, UNAM, UAM, UDLAP, Iberoamericana), UK (UCL - Bartlett) and China (XJTLU). The outcomes of his research have been published in conference proceedings and scientific journals. In 2018, Giancarlo wrote the book Simplified Complexity, which is available in Italian, English, and Spanish. In 2022 he took the role of Senior Associate Professor in the Architecture Department at XJTLU, China. His interests in geometry and computational design and his passion for teaching lay the foundation for his research in lightweight structures, procedural thinking, and digital fabrication. Giancarlo is working on different funded research projects under a unique research endeavour on concrete 3D printing.
