Personal profile

Teo Hidalgo Nácher is a chartered architect, director of the Design Research Center and Assistant Professor at the Department of Architecture at Xian Jiatong-Liverpool University. His practice-based research focuses on architectural strategies relevant to the construction of everyday life and in the potential of bio-based materials to contribute to better-balanced, complex and inclusive ecosystems. His award-winning projects include the Seoul Garden International Competition (1st Prize), Europan 15 Barcelona (2nd Prize), Jiangnan District Community Center Competition (3rd Prize), Gusu District Urban Planning Bureau Metro Competition (2nd Prize) and the Suzhou Ancient City Design Competition, China Society of Architecture (4th Prize). His project Cabanons was exhibited at the 6th Suzhou Jinji Lake Biennale 2023 in collaboration with Le Corbusier Foundation and the Qu Art Museum.Teo has served as the Exam Officer of the Department of Architecture (2021-2023) and the Module Coordinator of Final Year Project (2022-2023). He actively participates as a keynote speaker, jury member, and critic at various national and international events and universities.Before joining XJTLU, he worked at the East China Architectural Design and Research Institute in Shanghai, developing high-profile projects, research and award-winning competitions entries such as the Urumqi Diwopu International Airport, the Eastbund Lighttowers, the Baoan Cultural Center, the Sanlin Bridge or the Zhejiang Cultural Center all awarded 1st Prize in international competitions. Teo has served as a consultant and aid-worker at the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (ECADI) in Venezuela and as an architect at the office of Elias Torres Jose Antonio Martinez Lapeña in Barcelona. He graduated with a Master´s degree at ETSAV- Politechnic University of Catalonia (BA+MA)
