Personal profile

Dr. Chang Kim is currently an Assistant Professor of Sustainable Business at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. He received his PhD degree from James Cook University, Australia, in 2023. His primary research interests include circular economy business models and Product-Service System (servitization) in Asian countries. In 2023, the Academy of Management designated his paper, based on his PhD research, as the 'Best Paper' at the 83rd Annual Meeting (Division: Organizations and the Natural Environment). He currently serves as the Deputy Director for the MSc in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Strategic HRM pathway at the University. Additionally, he acts as a Subject Matter Expert on the circular economy agenda for the Korean Environmental Industry & Technology Institute, a quasi-governmental organisation affiliated with the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea.

Prior to his current role, he served as a Lecturer at Republic Polytechnic in Singapore for 6 years (2013-2019), where he chaired modules in Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour. He continues to contribute to the field as the Vice President for the Korean Association of Human Resource Development, a national academic society in South Korea. His opinion and interview pieces have appeared in Times Higher Education, Euronews, and leading media outlets in South Korea.
