Personal profile

Jue Qiu is a practising architect and Assistant Professor of Practice. He worked in Office for Metropolitan Architecture (the Netherlands Hong Kong) and he was a Design Director at Soochow University Architecture Urban Planning Design Institute Co., Ltd before joining XJTLU. He has balanced his practice and teaching since the very beginning of his career. Prior to joining XJTLU on a full-time basis, he was a part-time tutor at Soochow University and XJTLU for many years, as well as a guest reviewer at a number of institutions, such as Hong Kong University, Soochow University, etc. His design projects go along with research often. His interest lies especially in design strategy in high-density contexts and of mix-use, which was applied in projects of different types across scales from urban design to small-scale architecture. Most relevant are the National Art Museum of China competition (Beijing, 2011), Essence Financial Building (Shenzhen, 2013), Prince Plaza (Shenzhen, 2013), Taiyuan Industrial Heritage Masterplan (Shaanxi, 2014), New Gusu Hospital (Suzhou, 2014) and Suzhou University Dushu Lake Campus Gymnasium and Student Center (Suzhou 2020).
