Dr. Chang Kim is currently an Assistant Professor of Sustainable Business at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. Additionally, he serves as the Deputy Director for the MSc in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Strategic HRM pathway. He received his PhD degree from James Cook University, Australia, in 2023. His primary research interests include circular economy business models and Product-Service System (servitization) in Asian countries. In 2023, the Academy of Management designated his paper, derived from his PhD research, as the 'Best Paper' at the 83rd Annual Meeting (Division: Organizations and the Natural Environment). Dr. Kim also acts as a Subject Matter Expert on the circular economy agenda for the Korean Environmental Industry & Technology Institute, a quasi-governmental organisation affiliated with the Ministry of Environment of the Republic of Korea.

Prior to joining Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University, he served as a Lecturer at Republic Polytechnic in Singapore for 6 years. During his tenure, he held the role of Module Chair for Human Resource Management and Organisational Behaviour. Dr. Kim also assumes the position of Vice President for the Korean Association of Human Resource Development, a national academic society in South Korea. His opinion and interview pieces have appeared in Times Higher Education, Euronews, and leading media outlets in South Korea.
