沈萱莹Xuanying Shen has joined XJTLU officially from 2008 after graduated from Nanjing University with master degree in Linguistics and Applied Linguistics. She has over 15 years of teaching experience in Teaching Chinese language to foreigners and 7 years of modern languages management. In 2013, she has got the Certificate in Professional Studies in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (CPS) from the University of Liverpool, and Fellow of The Higher Education Academy (UK).In 2019, she was awarded XJTLU Honored Staff in Appreciation of her contributions to XJTLU. And she is also the Research Fellow of XIPU Institution (Think Tank).She has been very active in terms of pedagogical research and new technology-enhanced Chinese language learning and teaching, the recent achievements she has been made are in two areas: AI assisted Chinese language speech analysis and computer adaptive Chinese language placement test. AI assisted Chinese language speech analysis has obtained two funding one external from Suzhou Sic Tech Bureau (50,000rmb) and one internal funding from Research Enhancement(50,000rmb); The computer adaptive Chinese language placement test has also obtained the funding from university Teaching Development Fund.
Research interests
With a strong interest in task-based teaching methods and Chinese vocabulary teaching, Shen completed her MSc dissertation on the topic of Morpheme, Collocations and Context training in vocabulary teaching using Integrated Chinese in China as an example. Her recent research interest focuses on web and computer assistant language teaching, corpus-based approaches in learning Mandarin Chinese and learning at an international university.
