Haiyun has been teaching Chinese as a second language since 2014, and she has joined XJTLU in 2017. She firstly worked at the Confucius Institute at the University of Rhode Island (URI), where she also worked directly within the URI in the Department of Modern and Classical Languages and Literatures and the URI Chinese Flagship program sponsored by the US government. Subsequently, she joined the International College of Zhejiang University as a Chinese Language teacher. She had taught Comprehensive Chinese, Spoken Chinese, and General Education courses to different levels of international students from around the world. All these years of teaching have developed her student-centered teaching style and she believes in “Learning by teaching”, that teachers are life-long learners that should seek effective teaching and learning.
