Martina Dorn

Martina has been working as an English language teaching (ELT) professional since 2000 and has been in the English for Academic Purposes (EAP) field for over eight years. She taught English (General, Business, IELTS preparation and EAP) in the United Kingdom (UK), the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and China. Martina has also held a number of roles (Head of Division, Director of Studies, Head of Department, Assessment Specialist). She has worked in the English Language Centre (ELC) at XJTLU as a Senior Language Lecturer since August 2020.

Martina holds two master's degrees (MA in Education and MSc in Technology Management). She completed the Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults (DELTA) and is an Advance HE Fellow. Martina is currently following the BSc Mathematics and Its Learning programme and aspires to gain the Advance HE Senior Fellowship status.

Regarding her current research interests, Martina is investigating how to harvest Generative AI (GenAI) to assist practitioners and learners with giving and receiving formative feedback. She is particularly interested in helping students become more autonomous and developing transferrable strategies to be successful in their academic, professional and personal lives.

Outside of work, Martina is a keen runner, skier and hiker. She likes to spend time with her family and, whenever possible, travels to new places.
