Dr. Hao Lan holds the position of Associate Professor of Economics at the International Business School Suzhou (IBSS) at Xian Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU). He completed his doctorate from the University of Nottingham, which laid the foundation for his academic career. Before joining XJTLU, Dr. Lan spent four years at the University of East Anglia, where he began his journey in academia, contributing to research and teaching in the field of economics. Dr. Hao Lan is renowned for his specialisation in industrial organisation, particularly within the food sector, where he explores advanced topics such as food pricing, transmission mechanisms, and market competitiveness. His academic interests also encompass applied macroeconomics and housing economics, areas in which he has established a strong research presence. Dr. Haos significant contributions to the field are evidenced by his publications in world-leading journals, including the American Journal of Agricultural Economics, Applied Economics, Energy Economics, International Review of Economics and Finance, Oxford Economics Papers, and the Journal of Agricultural Economics. His work not only demonstrates his deep expertise but also his commitment to advancing understanding in these critical areas of economics.In his teaching role, Dr. Hao teaches Financial Econometrics to final year undergraduate students and Time Series Analysis to masters students. He has also contributed significantly to academic administration, serving as the Library Liaison Officer for the economics department and previously holding the position of Deputy Programme Director for the MSc Business Analytics program from 2017 to 2021.
