Integrating AI Feedback and Educational Gaming to Enhance Syntegrative Learning in Manufacturing Education

In previous deliveries of the engineering module (MFE402TC-Material Science and Manufacturing Processes), students engaged actively in hands-on activities such as material selection exercises, manufacturing simulations, etc. However, feedback indicated a desire for more personalised, real-time guidance to support decision-making during these activities. Students often struggle to make informed decisions due to insufficient, real-time, actionable feedback during their design. To address this need and further bridge the gap between theory and practice, this proposal introduces the XIPU AI feedback system within the module. Moreover, the module will incorporate Production Puzzle: An Educational Game in both digital and board formats to simulate real-world manufacturing challenges like lead time, cycle time, bottlenecks, and resource allocation. The game will create a dynamic learning environment with the AI-integrated feedback system.
