Mairi is the Head of Part-Time Pre-sessional English and PG EAP lecturer in the ELC, School of Languages. Mairi has taught EAP at Postgraduate and Undergraduate levels in the UK, The Netherlands, and to transnational students in China, and served as Academic Director at a language centre in Bolivia.Mairi holds a Master’s degree in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) with Distinction (2013), the University of Cambridge DELTA (Diploma in English Language Teaching) (2017), a University Advanced Professional Certificate in Teaching English for Academic Purposes (2021), and a social sciences BA (Hons) (2006). She is currently undertaking a Postgraduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education, and pursuing FHEA and BALEAP TEAP Fellowship.In AY2023-24, Mairi teaches on Postgraduate Taught Continuing Support. Previously, she taught on LAN 915: Doing a Literature Review, LAN 916: Writing a Research Proposal, LAN 917: Academic Presentation and Seminar Skills, LAN 918: Advanced Academic Presentation and Seminar Skills, and LAN 919: ELC PGT Continuing Support.Mairi’s research interests include EAP assessment, teacher welfare, collaboration in EAP, implementation of ESAP into EAP programmes, and onomastics in EAP.Mairi is a member of BALEAP, the global association for Teaching English for Academic Purposes, and she is one of XJTLUs BALEAP Institutional Representatives.
