Geometric phase in spin precession and the adiabatic approximation

Using a rigorous method of solution, the motion of spin states in rotational magnetic fields is studied as an initial value problem and the geometric phase is derived. It is shown that there are two ways of applying the adiabatic approximation when →0, continuously and discontinuously.
