Abstract

The exhibition themed "A Day with Emperor Qianlong" was designed, curated and created by Figmews Studio, to create a grand new southern journey for Qianlong in the contemporary contexts.

It is hoped that through the exploration of new and old in Suzhou, we can not only simply record this moment, but also create a new Qianlong’s Southern Tour drawing that belongs to this 21st century, and belongs to the contemporary Suzhou. It is hoped that through such artistic re-creation and the multimedia technology, audiences from different age groups and cultural backgrounds will be drawn into the museum and turn Suzhou Museum into a youthful platform of learning, entertainment, and communication.

The scroll drawing is divided into three chapters, and each draws from different perspectives and timelines. In the contemporary context, instead of taking the boat, the modernized high-speed train will be translated into a Horse-Speed Train from Qianlong's perspective, upon his arrival, he witnessed his fans waiting at the platform just like how the citizens welcomed him in the original painting.
