Wei Guo (Gwen) is a passionate and encouraging teacher with fifteen years language teaching experience in China, New Zealand and Singapore. She started teaching English at a local Chinese university in 2003. Since September 2012, she has been working for the Language Center (LC) at XJTLU and has taught Chinese to staff and international students and different English for Academic Purposes (EAP) modules to students from Y1 to Y3. Also, she worked as the exams officer at LC for three years and the internal moderator of the Y3 China Studies EAP modules for two years.Gwen is good at motivating students and quick to assimilate new ideas, concepts and teaching methodologies to best facilitate the students’ learning. She always think critically and act proactively in the pursuit of excellent teaching performance.

Research interests

Her research interest lies in multimodal analysis and second language acquistion. For instance, she is interested in looking at how multimodal features of childrens books engage the young readers. She is also interested in how various motivational factors affect L2 learners’ specific learning behavior, such as their use of certain language learning strategies.
