Dr. Deborah received her Ph.D. in Architecture from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta Georgia, and has a Masters in Environmental Studies from York University, Toronto Canada. Prior to undertaking her Ph.D studies, Deborah was engaged in professional interior architecture practice in Canada where she designed exciting new workplaces for emerging and established technology and financial companies in Toronto and New York City. Her design work is published in national newspapers as well as business magazines such as Time Warners Business 2.0.Dr. Deborah has over 20 years academic experience in Design programs. In 2023 she has joined XJTLU where she is active teaching in Architecture design studios, environmental sustainability and urban studies. She is currently lead of the Cultural Innovations and Cultural Practices lab (CICP) in the Department of Architecture. She is an active researcher using Space Syntax analysis methods to examine urban and architectural spatial configurations and aims to expand the integration of this exciting methodology into the architectural curriculum as well as her colleagues research. At present she is also actively mentoring junior architecture faculty to translate their project-based action research into research publications.
