Abstract

In this chapter, we explored how evaluation methods have evolved to assess the performance of elite football goalkeepers and how data mining and machine learning have advanced the field of sports analytics. We also identified the key performance indicators that affect the success of goalkeepers in the European football championship. Furthermore, we described the data collection process, data sample and features, as well as various statistical analyses (both univariate and multivariate) that were used to accomplish the objectives of this study.
