Abstract

Despite the efforts to establish gender equality in organizations, intricate processes andsystems hinder women’s advancement into top leadership positions. In this chapter, weexplore many of the organizational-level barriers that impact women leaders, includinghiring/selection, networking, mentoring, promotion, and negotiation. Understanding each ofthese processes will help organizations to establish gender inclusive strategies andgender-neutral policies that will allow women and minorities to navigate through thelabyrinth more effectively.
