Abstract

This chapter focuses on the role of language ideologies in shaping the ways in which minority languages are valued, negotiated, and contested in the linguistic landscape. After a brief discussion of key concepts, three case studies are presented, aiming to highlight the diverse ways in which language ideologies impact the visibility and vitality of minority languages in contemporary societies.
