Abstract

This chapter highlights various shots and saves as well as their association with goalkeepers’ (GKs) goal conceptions in European championship tournaments. It has been demonstrated from the study findings that a set of shots and saves encompassing mid-range shots saved, close-range saves, mid-range shots saved, and long-range shots are vital predictors of GK’s goals conceptions. It has also been demonstrated from the current finding that the logistic regression model is able to yield an excellent prediction of the GKs grouping with respect to the investigated parameters. It is then inferred that GKs’ training programmes should include aspects related to dealing with various shots and specific saves necessary during match play.
