Cultural Intelligence, Expatriates Turnover, and their Entrepreneurial Mindset in China

Research output: Contribution to conferencePaperpeer-review

Abstract

This is a double layered research study at the national level of China mainland that aims at investigating the deep effects of cultural intelligence (CQ) on self-initiated expatriates’ turnover intentions and entrepreneurial mindset. The significance of this research stems from its crucial timing, scale, and the staggering gap in the academic literature. The research addresses two key scientific problems. The first one is the moderated mediated relationship between CQ as a prevention measure for the costly expatriates’ turnover while the second one is the relationship between CQ as a managerial capability for the potential entrepreneurial mindset required for the success of organizations. Not only will this study have significant theoretical implications that will add to our knowledge about the antecedents of entrepreneurship, but it will also have solid practical applications at the individual, organizational, and governmental level. The findings will guide individuals and organizations through the process of selection, recruitment, and training of newly appointed expatriates. Adding to the significance of this research, China is the second largest economy in the world and has recently revealed (August 2023) new policies aimed at facilitating international entrepreneurial activities. The research will use mixed methods, i.e. qualitative (interviews) and quantitative (surveys).
