Abstract

This chapter highlights the crucial tactical and technical-related indicators that are vital towards the successful performance of goalkeepers (GKs). These indicators, which consist of good interception, accurate passes, accurate foot passes from open play, hand passes accurate, accurate passes from set pieces, medium passes accurate, and accurate long passes, are deemed significant in determining the success of goalkeepers in the European football championship. Furthermore, the utilization of principal component analysis has proven to be effective in extracting the most important indicators that can explain successful GKs’ performance. Therefore, it is recommended that these highlighted indicators be incorporated into the training routine of GKs. This is particularly important when nurturing young GKs to better prepare them to handle high-pressure goalkeeping tasks.
