Abstract

The education sector has undergone significant changes due to the COVID-19 epidemic, leading to a complete transformation of the education landscape. As we enter the post-epidemic era, we can expect to see new patterns, dynamism, horizons, and a new normal in the education sector. The OECD Education 2030 project refers to this future as the "VUCA world," characterized by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. In order to adapt to these challenges and secure an international position, it is crucial for education to focus on developing global competence among students. By cultivating the five core competencies of global competence development, known as the 5C model, with cultural competence as the central axis and critical thinking, creativity, communication, and collaboration as the supporting elements, China can shape its global competence development system. Implementing this model will enable the creation of a systematic project for global competence development in China, allowing young Chinese students to establish their life goals and progress steadily towards them.
