Description
Each year, modules that teach English for Academic Purposes (EAP) are tasked with revising materials to match changing assessments, educational environment, technology, and evolving student needs. Generative artificial intelligence (GAI) has emerged as a major helper in the development of materials (Karpouzis et al., 2024). However, investigators who have experimented with GAI also warn that a critical approach is required to successfully utilize this tool, which saves time, improves quality, and allows increased customization (Lan & Chen, 2024). This research project will analyze and evaluate the recommendations and output given by GAI, whether they meet the standards of contemporary pedagogy, and where human intervention is needed to ensure that the contributions are relevant (van den Berg, & du Plessis, 2023). Students will participate in this project in all steps benefiting from becoming familiar with GAI tools, the latest pedagogical thought in EAP, and engaging in teaching material development.
