Personal profile

Personal profile

Dr. Yuehan Dou (窦月含) is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Health and Environmental Sciences. She holds her PhD in Environmental Sciences from Wageningen University in the Netherlands, recognized internationally as a leading institution in the fields of Environment and Ecology.

Dr. Dou's research expertise lies at the intersection of ecological restoration, biodiversity conservation, and cultural ecosystem services. Her work emphasizes restoring habitats to protect wildlife, preserve local cultural heritage, and enhance human well-being. After extensive field studies across diverse ecosystems in China—including grasslands, coastal wetlands, drylands, and forests—Dr. Dou observed that the needs and perceptions of local communities were often overlooked in ecological restoration projects.

Currently, her research explores how landscapes influence human physical and mental health, and investigates the connections between sense of place and patterns of labor migration. By addressing these interdisciplinary themes, Dr. Dou aims to highlight the intricate relationships between human societies and natural ecosystems, ultimately seeking strategies to optimize both ecological integrity and human well-being.

Students and researchers interested in ecological restoration, biodiversity conservation, cultural ecosystem services, and human-nature interactions are encouraged to collaborate and join Dr. Dou’s ongoing research efforts.
