My research interests are focused on the G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). We have developed a NanoBRET-based Kisspeptin ligand binding assay targeting GPR54 receptor. We also examined the ligand binding and G protein coupling for two natural mutants of GPR54 which was reported to cause precocious puberty. We have shown that R386P mutant of the GPR54 in the C-terminus displays a higher ligand binding affinity and also constitutively active for Gq coupling which explain why the mutant causes precocious puberty.
As a teaching assistant, I have been involved in instructing courses such as BIO102 Experimental Design and Analysis, BIO107 Introduction to Biochemistry, BIO113 Molecular Biology Techniques, BIO202 Advanced Biochemical Methods, BIO204 Advanced Genetics and BIO205 Cell Biology Techniques.
