Rong hails from Guizhou, in the southern part of China. His teaching career started in 2013 when he obtained his bachelors degree. With 7 years teaching experience of IELTS and TOEFL, he went to the University of St. Andrews in 2020, and had Masters Degree in TESOL. His research interests include SLA (second language acquisition) and TELL(technology-enhanced language learning), such as data-driven learning.
