Dr. Ibrahim Mustafa Mehedi is currently a Senior Associate Professor at the School of Robotics, Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University in China. An esteemed IEEE Senior Member, he was recognized among the Top 2% of scientists worldwide in 2023 and serves as a review panel member for the U.S. National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship Program. His expertise spans control system engineering, renewable energy, biomedical engineering, AI and machine learning, aerospace engineering systems, and biosensors.

Dr. Mehedi earned his PhD in Electrical Engineering and Information Systems from The University of Tokyo, Japan as a Japanese Government Scholar. He holds an MSc in Aerospace Engineering from University Putra Malaysia and a BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from RUET, Bangladesh, where he graduated with first-class honors in fourth position. His academic journey includes positions as Professor, Associate Professor, and Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at King Abdulaziz University in Saudi Arabia (2012–2023), as well as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) and a Lecturer in Aerospace Engineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.

In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Mehedi has industrial experience as an Electrical Engineer at a Coca-Cola bottling plant in Bangladesh. He has secured a total research funding of $602,740 USD across 26 grants, leading 16 of them. His publication record includes over 100 peer-reviewed journal articles, 17 conference articles, five U.S. patents, and one book chapter. He has taught a variety of courses, including control systems, numerical and analytical methods, basic electrical engineering, MATLAB, and electromechanical energy conversion.
