Abstract

In this paper, we propose a positioning system using super-resolution time of arrival (TOA) in IEEE 802.11a/g networks. The performance of the super-resolution TOA estimation methods with the Multiple Signal Classification (MUSIC)/noise eigenvalues (EV) and traditional cross-correlation algorithm are compared in a simulated indoor multipath environment. Simulation results indicate that more accurate TOA estimation results can be achieved by the use of super-resolution algorithms in TOA estimation under the affecting of SNR And in low SNR situations, TOA estimation with time domain channel estimation can approach higher level accuracy and stability than with frequency domain channel estimation.
