Abstract

This chapter serves as an introduction to the monograph. It presents the theoretical framework of the book: the concepts of translation and recognition and their relatedness. Following the theorisation is a rationale provided for the necessity and significance of studying Lin Yutang and his works from the perspective of translation and recognition. This situates the works of Lin into the landscapes of the politics of translation and the politics of recognition. The last section of this chapter shows chapter organisation of this monograph.
