Abstract

In this paper, we offer an overview of several aspects of cybernetics that are relevant to CAAD research. We present key cybernetic ideas, the development of the field and its relationship to design research, followed by a brief mapping of eight intersections between cybernetics and CAAD, covering design cognition, design computing, design process, design management, design production, design outcomes, design research and design values.
