Tomoko Miyairi (宮入朋子)has joined the Modern Languages friendly, energetic and culturally-diverse team at XJTLU in September 2021. She had worked as a Japanese Language Tutor at the University of Hull, U.K. for 20 years. She also acted as a Coordinator for Languages for All Programme in that institution for 8 years. During those years, she designed and delivered several new modules, such as Japanese Language, People and Society through TV Aminations, ‘Introduction to East Asian Pop Culture’ for undergraduate students, as well as Modern Languages and Cultures in Postgraduate Contexts for postgraduate students. Her Japanese class is highly interactive, and her students and even her colleagues often call their learning experience inspiring. Her academic-related activities had involved being a Chief Coordinator of the academic journal in the British Association for Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language. Tomoko is also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the U.K.Here at XJTLU, she works as a Deputy Head of Japanese and currently teaches in the Japanese Language 4 Module.
