Mika Takewa is Senior Lecturer in Japanese at the Modern Languages Centre, School of Languages, XJTLU. Before joining XJTLU in January 2022, Mika was in the UK Higher Education sector, teaching Japanese from beginners to advanced level students. She also taught translation to undergraduate advanced level students of Japanese as well as postgraduate trainee students of translation.Assisting students to develop their Japanese skills is a pleasure for her. She enjoys and welcomes questions from students about Japanese. They are interesting and eye opening both linguistically and cross-culturally, which offer opportunities for her to deepen or widen her understanding of Japanese as well as to improve teaching. In addition to Learning/Teaching Japanese as a Foreign Language, her interest includes Translation Studies, Systemic Functional Linguistics of Japanese and Contrastive Analysis of English and Japanese.She is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK.
