Miguel Baptista Nunes (龙乐思) BSc, MSc, PhD, FHEA, FBCS, is a Professor and the Dean of the School of Internet of Things at XJTLU Entrepreneur College (Taicang); a Fellow of the British Computing Society; and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the UK.Prior to this appointment, Miguel was the Dean of the School of Information Management at Sun Yat-sen University, Guangzhou, China. Where in 2019, he founded the first laboratory in China dedicated to VR in digital humanities research, named VR+Culture. Miguel was the chair of the Asia-Pacific Chapter of the iSchools movement from 2018 to 2020; the Chair of the Asia-Pacific Chapter of the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIST) from 2017 to 2018. From 2015-2017, Miguel was a National High-end Foreign Expert at the School of Information Resources Management of the Renmin University of China, sponsored by the Chinese State Administration of Foreign Experts Affairs. Prior to this more recent Chinese professional experience, Miguel was at the Information School of the University of Sheffield in the UK for 23 years, 20 of those as a permanent member of academic staff, where he led the development of teaching learning and research in the Information Systems discipline, with a keen perspective on the resolving bottlenecks and taking opportunity of cutting-edge trends in the discipline.Miguel’s research interests are centered on information systems, knowledge management and information management, specifically on areas such as information systems modelling, information systems design and development; database design and development; project management; risk management; and information systems change management. Miguel has also an historical interest in e-learning, particularly in social constructivist approaches to curriculum and course design, instructional systems design, and web-based learning environments for active and distance learning. He has published more than 200 refereed articles in both academic journals and conferences; published a book on action research for e-learning and served as chair for a number of international conferences. Miguel has also led several EU, UK and lately Chinese funded projects.
