Personal profile

Dr. Laura Sava is Assistant Professor in Film Studies at Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. A Romanian native, originally trained in art history, she also holds degrees in British Cultural Studies (MA) and film studies (MA, PhD). Laura Sava completed her doctorate at the University of Warwick, UK, where she was also Early Career Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Study and Associate Fellow in the Department of Film and Television Studies, before joining XJTLU in February 2013. Her book Theatre Through the Camera Eye: The Poetics of an Intermedial Encounter was published in 2019 with Edinburgh University Press. She is currently preparing a volume on the Romanian director Lucian Pintilie for the Edinburgh University Press ReFocus International Directors Series, which she is co-editing with Dr. Andrei Gorzo.
