Abhishek Kandwal (Senior Member, IEEE) is presently working as an Associate Professor in the School of Chips at Xi'an Jiaotong Liverpool University since November 04, 2024. He received his Ph.D in Physics (Electromagnetic Waves) in 2014. He has over 14-years of research/teaching experience (10-years after PhD) from some of the world top universities and research organizations such as SUTech University Shenzhen (Top-200/300 THE/QS World Ranking), SIAT Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS: World top research org. per Nature Index) jointly estb. by CUHK University Hong Kong (Top-50 THE/QS World Ranking) and Shoolini University (Top-500 THE World Ranking).
His research interest is mainly focused on emerging electromagnetic wave techniques that includes research on advanced compact flexible RF sensors for biomedical engineering applications (Diabetes: Glucose monitoring); advanced leaky-wave/surface-wave antennas for microwave/millimeter wave communication applications. His research also deals with magnetic nanoparticles, environmental applications such as waste water treatment; and hydrogen production. He has authored over 120-international research publications and filed/granted several national/international Patents. 
Dr. Kandwal received CAS President International Young Staff Award in 2019 with a funding grant from Chinese Academy of Sciences and was a key team member of several other projects on glucose monitoring in China. He has served as an Associate Editor for IEEE Access Journal and Special issue editor of various journals in Elsevier, Wiley. He is a Life Member of Material Research Society of India (MRSI), senior member of IEEE USA, a member of International Frequency Sensor Association (IFSA) and member of IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Society.
