Abstract

In the paper, some remarks to the review by A.A.Boldyrev dealing with free radical processes of oxidative metabolism in the ischemic brain are made. It is noted that nitric oxide (NO) can be considered as a regulator of damaging action of highly destructive active oxygen species. The role of NO in the oxidative metabolism of ischemic brain as a secondary messenger is determined. It is shown that the correction of free radical mechanisms on the microcirculation level could represent a method of the brain ischemia therapy.
