Abstract

3D visualization plays an important role in geological explorations. The geological scientists usually follow pre-deffned routes to explore conditions of speciffc parts of outcrops. In this work, we propose a hybrid interaction system to support users to explore geological outcrops data through multi-touch and pen interactions. The exploration tasks include selection, annotation and navigation. Leveraging this system on portable devices such as Microsoft Surface allows
geologists to explore 3D geological outcrops efficiently.
