Abstract

This paper proposes an inverted v-shaped microstrip leaky wave antenna and its mode analysis for frequency scanning applications. The two port antenna provides scanning in the right hand quadrant within the frequency bandwidth. The proposed simple inverted v-shaped structure allows radiation leakage from its sharp corners or edges without modifying the whole structure. The paper provides dispersion analysis for mode explanation and the design is measured to observe the antenna characteristics such as reflection coefficient, loss, etc. The radiation patterns describe the scanning ability of the proposed leaky wave antenna. The frequency of operation of the antenna makes it very suitable for high frequency scanning applications.
