Abstract

High peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) concerns power efficiency of multicarrier transmission systems such as orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM). In this paper, we complement optimum selective mapping (SLM) with amplitude clipping in digital baseband to maximize PAPR reduction. An iterative algorithm is also developed for clipping recovery that can be implemented as an independent module in the receiver. The scheme promises maximum PAPR reduction with both computational efficiency for the transmitter and least signal to noise ratio (SNR) loss for the receiver.
