Abstract
This work presents a study on phase-space quasi-probability distributions, focusing attention on the well-known Wigner and Q distributions. A correlation function, C, is defined aiming for a greater understanding about representations and the role of phase-space representations in quantum optics. We have investigated the behavior of these functions when applied to the squeezed and displaced number state and to the superposition of N displaced number state. A brief study of dissipation for these two classes of states is also presented.
