Abstract

A loop antenna integrated into the frame of the watch case for Bluetooth and 5G communication is proposed in this work. The structure of the antenna is a thin metal layer attached to the outer surface of a cylindrical substrate frame. The system ground plane is a circular metal patch inside the frame wall, holding a gap to the antenna. The proposed antenna can cover the ISM 2.45 GHz band (2400-2480 MHz) for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi applications and sub-6GHz FR1-N78 band (3400-3600 MHz) for 5G communication while working in the vicinity of body material.
