Abstract
The formation of C602- and C70 2- was observed in collisions between C60 -/C70- and Na atoms. The cross sections for the electron transfer to the monoanion were determined to be 36±9 and 57±14 Å2 for C60- and C 70-, respectively. A simple analysis based on the over-the-barrier model showed the importance of a resonance condition. The results of Stark shift show that the active electron from an atom can be captured into the ground state while free electron capture occurs to a high electronic state.
